Post Christmas Blues

00110big_592x888
Although one of the leading trends for Autumn Winter 12/13 has been about the chilling hue of blue, let’s not feel “blue” about 2012 approaching an end. Stay cool and embrace the colour! Although it’s a bright shade for this season, it will undeniably brighten up your post-Christmas sulk, as well as your wardrobe from its electric powers! If it’s too bright for you, tone it down with some black.

The Gentlemen’s Club

This Seasons- Pocket silk prints for the casual-luxurious look has really hit the High Street with a storm.
Super brands such as Prada, Marc Jacobs and Christopher Kane started off this, almost androgynous style using graphic Seventies prints cut into sharp trouser suits and skirts.

Squeezing through the awful sale crowds in Leeds City Centre today with my mother really was a challenge. From gluttonous/weirdo women taking up 4 chairs in bursting-ly busy cafes to people stood in the middle of walkways with prams containing screaming children- “Move out of the way, I’m on a mission”. I despise spending the day browsing slowly about sales, like a retail sloth. It’s an operation that has a lot of skill- I like to be in and out- Done. My sale-chaos-pain had disappeared when coming across this fabulous “pocket print” style jacket from Warehouse. In fact we found two!

Crystallized Christmas

When it comes to Christmas celebrations, I don’t know about you- but all I can think about is; sequins and embellishment. I just want to leave a trail of glitter, pearls and crystals everywhere I step. As we extend into winter there is an apparent affection towards opulent, dramatic accessories. Although they are mainly seen as the finishing touch, they release a fantasy within fashion. We want to embrace the seasonal sparkle through endless accessorising in lavish/luxurious jewellery. I’m currently fantasising on what form of embellishment I will be wearing on New Year’s Eve, if I could have it my way I would wear a chandelier! Now that would certainly stand out.
Anyway, here are a few snaps from my festivities.

Spice up your Life

Normally this time of year there are two colours that in fashion you can’t simply run away from, red and green. I don’t know about you, but I really don’t fancy complying with this generic Christmas colour palette, don’t get me wrong I’m no scrooge but dressing correspondently to a Christmas tree just screams tack!
So anyway, earlier this Autumn/Winter 12 Orange hue hit the fashion scene. Associating orange with Halloween is obvious, but why not stretch it further through to Christmas with rich yellow gold jewellery for decoration- now I’m sounding like I’m dressing a Christmas tree- but its ok we are going a few shades hotter than red, to be different.
The spicy, colour-popping orange simmered onto the runway’s from the likes of; Hussein Chalayan, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin and worn by a personal favourite of mine; Victoria Beckham.

The Society and Value of Fur

Style: "Neutral"
I’m currently working on gathering data for my dissertation. I was wondering if you guys could help me! I’m so grateful that you take the time out to read my blog and follow- I will love you all more if you could take some time to fill out my survey! Plus if I can get hundreds of responses I can get back to my regular blogging. Therefore everyone's a winner- Yes?!
I value your views because they will help me in my research into “The Society & Value of Fur: Can wearing of fur cross boundaries”. Please take a couple of minutes to fill in this questionnaire and tell me what you think.
To take the survey just click and follow the link below:
I look forward to your responses and I will blog a follow up post on my results in regards to my dissertation.

In Deep

I do apologise for my serious lack of blog posts, I have been caught up in my dissertation progress and my final major project research and development. I have been consuming vast quantities of red wine and coffee to keep me going- so don’t worry I have been coping. This year is tougher than I believed it would be but thankfully I am still enjoying my fashion venture.
I thought I would share with you my workspace progression- my project has taken a weird yet wonderful turn through my development, I have still kept the running theme of my starting point being my Thailand travels- but I wanted to push myself further to draw and move forward in a diverse new exciting way, individually.

The Start of the End

I have just started my final year of my fashion degree- exciting but not afraid to say I’m sh*tting my Calvin Klein’s, if you get my drift…
So anyway I’m knee deep in copious amounts of research before the analysis and the downright business of designing my final collection so this is a snippet of what I have been up to- trying to find my starting point and I think I finally acquired it.
